Gwyn Vernon, CRNP

Gwyn M. Vernon, MSN, CRNP, is a certified registered nurse practitioner and has been caring for those with Parkinson’s disease and their families for 30 years. Gwyn graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing as a Family Health NP and continues to teach at Penn while maintain her clinical practice at the Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorder Center at Pennsylvania Hospital. Over her rich career Gwyn has been recognized as a nursing leader in interdisciplinary teams in the capacity of nurse coordinator for an American Parkinson Disease Information and Referral Center and in a National Parkinson Disease Center of Excellence. Her insight into Parkinson’s disease is evident by her work as a research nurse coordinator and direct provider of patient care services, which have influenced her perspectives in numerous publications. Gwyn continues to lecture internationally and is committed to building nursing capacity to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease through the work of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation.

Lisette Bunting-Perry, PhD, RN has served the Parkinsons disease community for over 25 years.  She earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in Chronic Care and Management from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.  While at Penn Lisette minored in palliative care and focused her dissertation on pain in Parkinson’s disease. In 2007 Lisette and Gwyn Vernon, CRNP, published their seminal work “Comprehensive Nursing Care for Parkinson’s Disease” (Springer Publishing) and jointly launched the Visiting Nurse Faculty program in 2009 with funding from the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation.
